Patricia, the world’s greatest significant other, typically schedules most of my leisure time activities. These events rarely involve sitting in a movie theater watching the latest superhero/car chase/explosion flick.

This past weekend, we travelled to Naperville, Illinois to attend an event with Preppy Kitchen founder and author, John Kanell.

Patricia started following Kanell on Instagram and YouTube during the Pandemic, when she started baking as a way to pass the time when she was forced to work remotely from home.

Despite having a very long book signing line, Kanell was kind enough to pose with each of us individually, so we could attach his likeness to each of our platforms.

I made a joke that Patty and I were on a first date, and if our relationship did not work out, we did not want to have to delete our group photograph with Kanell from our Facebook accounts .

After the event, we paid a visit to restaurant owned by a world famous chef. Although we did not having a reservation, Patricia was able to charm her way into securing a table for the two of us … but that is a story for another time.
